Patty Kanan
On May 8, 2008, the first “Patricia L. Kanan Award for Outstanding Service” was presented to Patty Kanan by the Charitable Trust Board of Trustees.
As a charter member, Patty has served our club, the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, Inc. since its inception in 1993. She has worn many hats including board member, show chair and currently vice president, to name just a few. In each capacity she has given deeply of her time, talents and resources for the betterment of our breed. In no one area though has she worked harder and with more passion to bring out the best in all of us than in her role as a trustee for the ACKCSC, Inc. Charitable Trust. Founded in 2002, the Trust was established to provide financial and other support for charitable, educational and research efforts for dogs and, in particular, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The ACKCSC Charitable Trust is a vehicle to receive tax-deductible donations and has been granted the status of a 501 (c)(3) organization by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
Each year, Patty has challenged each of us to find new ways to raise money for our charity. As a result, the Trust continues to grow and prosper. The ACKCSC Charitable Trust Board begins a new tradition this year, to recognize outstanding service and/or contribution to our cause. Named for our most generous and dedicated benefactor to date, we award the first ever “Patricia L. Kanan Award for Outstanding Service” to Patty Kanan.
